Travis Carter began his career in the post-frame industry in 1998 working for a post-frame builder near Dover, Delaware. Travis’ first project as a carpenter’s helper was working on an 80’ x 200’ riding arena in Ocean View, Maryland. One thing he will never forget is the unique experience of spending 8 hrs on a 16,000 square foot roof installing screws every 9 inches with a handheld screw gun.
Over the ensuing years, he became a subcontractor, and built everything from gambrel style barns to run-in sheds and horse barns, RAY’S SHANTY, (a restaurant in Maryland) to garages, commercial pole buildings and buildings of almost every shape, size, and color known to the post-frame industry. He also ran the first Delmarva crew to rack trusses for Delmarva Pole Building Supply, Inc., in which the entire truss system was constructed on the ground, and then placed on the building in sections that were already built and completely framed, thereby saving time and eliminating danger to the crew involved.
Throughout Travis Carter’s career in the post-frame industry, he has maintained high performance standards within a diverse range of functions. And as construction manager for Delmarva Pole Building Supply, Inc., he estimates and orders material for 5 crews in the field while providing quote support for 3 salespeople. His daily problem resolution and technical support for crews and salespeople ensure efficient productivity and accuracy.
Travis also has a strong background in all aspects of logistics, from scheduling deliveries and coordinating crews, to overseeing construction projects in the field. His capacity to develop and maintain comprehensive processes that improve the efficiency of day-to-day operations has been amply demonstrated over the past 3 years.
Delmarva Pole Building Supply, Inc. has benefited from Travis’ expertise as a construction manager and his excellent organizational and communication skills. His integrity is evidenced by his proven work ethic, and his ability to work equally well in both team-oriented and self-directed environments, makes him a very tangible asset to the company.
Our customers meet Travis, as a rule, on the scheduled preconstruction trip, in which he insures that the building site will be properly prepped and ready for the building construction. They also get to know him and his team as they call to let customers know when materials and crews are scheduled to arrive at the site. Any questions and concerns customers may have can be answered by Travis or one of his team members. As the team leader, Travis schedules the initial jobsite material delivery and the building start date. On the rare occasion there are questions concerning product quality, Travis works directly with the vendor in question to resolve the issue. With Travis as construction manager, customer complaints have dropped to almost zero, and the crews experience the pleasure of finding the proper materials on site at the proper time.
Travis is one of a fine group of construction professionals at Delmarva Pole Building Supply, and his fellow employees not only rely on his knowledge and experience, they value his loyalty to the company and his good-natured attitude and friendship.
